Tavira

Founded and inhabited for centuries by local people and outsiders alike, Tavira offers a tour through history: archaeological remains, museums, the Gothic or Renaissance routes through its alleys and stone streets, and its more than 20 churches. It is also the capital of the Mediterranean Diet which is enough to say well of its gastronomy.

Beaches

An extensive area of sapal expanding 60 kms, from Praia do Ancão to Manta Rota, you’ll find a Natural Park with its own peculiar characteristics. Taking a boat ride through the Ria is a must, and it includes bird watching and several other exciting plants and animal species that make this one of the most important and protected ecological zones of the country.

Ria Formosa

To get to the beach of the island of Tavira, relax and spend the day enjoying many amenities, just take the boat that is located only 500 meters from the SPBH. But there is even more to discover, like the beach of Barril with its graveyard of anchors and the Museum of Tuna. The beach of Terra Estreita or the beach of Cabanas. Santa Luzia

Still in the municipality of Tavira, heading towards Olhão, Vila de Santa Luzia (also known as the Octopus capital), has excellent restaurants that offer this specialty in various dishes. You can get there through a beautiful walk or a bike ride from our Hotel.

Cacela Velha

The churchyard at the edge of the cliff offers the best view over the Ria Formosa and the sea. The small village was built by Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs and maintained to this day with an inexplicable charm. And its beach has already been considered one of the 10 best in the world.

Fuseta

In fishermen\'s land, the fish does not need much time to reach the coal grill. Fuseta maintains this tradition through it’s fishing boats and restaurants that prepare fresh and local food with mastery. A must try at the end of a beach day on the island of Armona.

Olhão

At 20kms from Tavira, is the city of Olhão, known for the intricate traditional neighborhood of Barreta with its small houses covered by rooftops and the bustling traditional markets on the edge of the Ria Formosa that present all the flavors and colors of the region. You can also take the boat to the islands of Culatra or Armona.

Salinas

Tavira and Castro Marim are the origin of a salt of excellence, already considered as one of the best in the world by specialists. The production respects the artisan and ecological tradition to guarantee all the properties. You can discover the ‘salinas’ on foot or by bicycle and acquire this marvel in the local markets.
